Chinese New Year

Today I celebrated Chinese New Year with Dad.Today was INCEPT day for me so I had the day off. First we drooped Louis off at school. Next we went to the British Museum I showed Dad the places I went to in Form 3 for my school trip. We made a chinese paper money bag while I was showing Dad the Greek and Roman coins. I put on a pig, a dragon, a ram, a tiger and a rooster. 2007 is the year of the pig, 1998 which is when I was born is the year of the tiger, 2000 which is when Louis was born is the year of the dragon. Mummy is a rooster, Daddy is a ram. Then Daddy showed me the Reading Room and we got a ticket for the talk on chinese New Year's celebration objects.

Then we went to make a dragon and later on you will see a picture of me with it. Next we went and made a paper chinese lantern, first we had to choose a pattern to put in the inside of the paper lantern - I chose a dragon and I coloured it gold. Then you fold a piece of paper in half and cut slits along the side. Then you staple the inside of the picture into a cylinder then you staple the piece of paper that you cut slits into onto the cylinder then you staple the handle on and you have made a chinese lantern. Then we went and listened to the celebration objects talk.

Then we exited the British Museum and bought two Silver Surfer comics one for me and one for Louis from a shop called 'Gosh!' they sold figurines, comics and comic books.

Next we went to Chinatown and went to the Royal Dragon a chinese restaurant for lunch. I had soft shelled crab, pork dumpling, seaweed, scallops, stir fried beef. Then we went and visited Mummy because Chinatown is near where she works. After we went and picked up Louis from school and took him home and now I am writing this!

What a very special day you had with you dad! Will your chinese lantern be there to show me next time I come round? It does look very professional. Also will you be able to tell me what year I was born in, in the chinese calendar of animals? My year of birth was 1942.
Thank you for describing so vividly your fun day.Much love granny
