Children of the Caribbean

On Saturday we took a taxi to Gatwick airport to catch a plane to the BVI (British Virgin Islands). After our first night in the boat our skipper came to sail with us. A few minutes after he arrived we left for Norman Island where we stayed for our first night. The next island that we went to was Jost Van Dyke to go to the Soggy Dollar Bar for lunch. The Soggy Dollar Bar is named because you have to swim to get there and by the time you've reached the bar all your dollars are soggy. Then we went to Great Harbour for the night. The next day we went to Green Cay and Sandy Cay which Dad called 'God's own Island' and then we went to Cane Garden Bay for the night.

Next day we set off to Marina Cay via Monkey point where me and Dad went snorkelling, we saw a huge fish and a fish that looked like a Barracuda. When we arrived at Marina Cay we had lunch at Pussers Bar. They were the people who supplied the British Navy during its Rum ration. We stayed there for the night. The next day we headed off to Virgin Gorda via lunch at Little Dix Bay which was a very expensive hotel. When we got to Little Dix Bay we saw that our really really old friends Tom and Harry, who were my friends before I started this blog, were staying there. On the way to Virgin Gorda there was a thunder storm and me, Louis and Mum went inside while Roy and Dad got soaked. The next day we went to Cooper Island via the Baths which is famous for its snorkelling. When Dad had got back from his snorkelling we all went to the beach and stayed there for a long time until it was time to go back to the boat.

The last day of sailing we headed to Dead Man's Bay on Peter Island and had lunch at another fancy hotel. After we motored to Trellis Bay where we had an enormous supper at the Loose Mongoose. The next day we left early to the airport to catch a flight to Antigua where we were going to stay for six hours at a really nice hotel. After the six hours we went to the Antigua airport and caught a Virgin Atlantic flight back to London.

I really liked the sailing holiday and maybe one day I would like to go sailing in the Caribbean again. There were lots of other sailing boats and at one time the beach was so crowded there was not one buoy left to use. I really like the snorkelling and we saw lots of interesting fish - Dad saw a turtle and a nurse shark and I saw the big fish and the fish that looked like a barracuda. Overall I really really enjoyed my holiday and I think the Caribbean is a really fun place with lots of beaches. Daddy is going to take me there again to teach me how to dive.
